THE HISTORY OF FACE PAINTING
The history of Face Painting dates back hundreds, maybe even thousands of years when people painted their faces and/or bodies for various reasons. Many civilizations from the ancient Egyptians to the native American Indians used face painting and tattoos to decorate themselves for hunting, to frighten their enemies in war, and as tribal recognition. Face painting and body decorations were also used in traditional ceremonies from appeasing their gods to entertaining their audiences.
Long ago, people made face paint by grinding colored stones or various clays, then mixing them with vegetable oil or animal fat. Sometimes they used plants to make colors. They ground up roots, then mixed them with fat or they boiled leaves in water, dried them, then crushed them into a powder and mixed the powder with oil. Modern materials make it easy to produce great designs with bright colors that wash off easily with soap and water.
Throughout the generations face painting has grown to be used more in entertainment field from makeup for special effects in movies to clowning. Clowns are always recognized by their particular painted face.Face painting became popular as a childrens activity about 20 years ago. Experienced painters are in demand for all kind of functions ranging from childrens parties and charity events to street fairs, festivals, and carnivals.

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst;
but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life.
